Description
The bridge and associated weir at the west end of Morley Pond, located partly in Rotherham parish, were built in the late 18th century for the Wentworth estate. The structure is made of coursed, dressed sandstone and features a single span with attached retaining walls and a weir at the rear. It has a segmental arch constructed with rock-faced voussoirs and an upward-projecting keystone. The spandrels are infilled with radial-jointed, tooled wallstone. There are flanking square, projecting piers that are linked by a band, and the parapet has chamfered copings. The three wing walls curve around to end at circular piers, with one wing wall being straight and featuring a domed coping. At the rear, the curved, battered retaining walls of rock-faced sandstone rise up to a small curved weir.
