Description
The Cascade is a late 18th-century structure, with some 20th-century rebuilding, located partly in Rotherham parish and associated with the Wentworth estate. It is constructed of dressed sandstone and features a curved retaining wall that has a lower central section. The abutment walls slope down and fan out in the downstream direction before returning into the bank. The ashlar copings overhang the curved section of the wall, and there are five stone posts designed to hold loose boards. The Cascade is an important feature in the design of the parkland's lakes.
