Description

The Gatehouse is a mid-18th century building, originally a vicarage, with 19th-century additions. It is constructed of cement-rendered walls with a 20th-century pantile roof. The original building is three storeys high and features three windows on the first floor. A wing was added to the right end in the 19th century, projecting forward and incorporating an outshut in the angle. The original section has a narrow door to the left of centre, with a small window to its right. Flanking sash windows with glazing bars are set within raised surrounds. A further door is located to the far right, adjacent to the 19th-century addition. The first-floor openings are square and have similar surrounds to the horizontally-sliding sashes with glazing bars, with the surround of the central window extending upwards to form a trefoil-headed panel. The second floor has outer windows only; the right-hand window bears a scratched inscription reading "Rev-Stephen Moore. 1774/Vicar of Brodsworth July 9th". The building has shaped kneelers and gable copings, and tall brick end stacks. The 19th-century additions to the right feature three casement windows on the front wall.

Inside, an early 19th-century staircase connects the original 18th-century house with the later additions. A splat-balustraded stair leads to the attic in the 18th-century section.
