Description

Fernery banks, bridges, and pergolas at Brodsworth Hall date from around 1860 and were restored in 1995. They are made of coursed rubble and cast iron. The fernery features banks of rough terrace walls that are topped with gravel paths, flanked by battlemented walls that support cast iron chain pergolas. These pergolas connect two segment-arched bridges with cast iron balustrades. At the east bank, there is a segment-arched alcove with ashlar coping and two urns, which likely once held a seat for enjoying views of the fern valley.
