Description
There are three graveslabs located approximately 2 metres south of the east end of the south chapel of the Church of All Saints. These graveslabs date from around 1759, 1755, and 1777 and are made of sandstone with moulded edges and rounded decoration at the top. The left slab features relief ornamentation at the top corners, while the middle and right slabs depict winged angels. Each slab has finely-cut lettering.
The left slab is engraved on the right side and commemorates Sarah, the wife of Joseph Hemingway, who died in 1759, as well as Joseph Hemingway, who died in 1786.
The middle slab is dedicated to Joseph Hemingway of Haigh, a yeoman who died in 1753 at the age of 73. It also remembers his daughter Elizabeth, who died in 1713 at the age of 5, and his son Nicholas, who died in 1726 at the age of 3, along with other family members up to 1810.
The right slab is for John Hemingway of Haigh, who died in 1777 at the age of 84, and his wife Jane, who died in 1789 at the age of 69. It also contains an inscription from 1833.
