Description
Nos 17, 19, and 21 on Church Street are three houses that were formerly a vicarage. They date from 1716, with late 18th century features and early to late 19th century alterations and additions. The buildings are constructed of coursed rubble with ashlar dressings and have stone slate roofs, featuring ashlar coped gables with kneelers. The roof includes a single pair of ridge stacks, three pairs of octagonal gable stacks, a single octagonal gable stack, and a wall stack. The layout is T-shaped with additional structures.
The main south front displays a pair of doorways with large, finished lintels. To the right, there is a former three-light mullion window, and to the left, two three-light mullion windows. Above these, there are two two-light mullion windows, with a three-light window to the left and a former three-light window to the right. All these windows feature Tudor hood moulds. The west gable wall includes a canted bay window, with a single two-light mullion window above it. An early 19th century addition to the left has a single two-light mullion window, with two similar windows above, all with Tudor hood moulds.
On the east front, there is a flush ashlar doorway with a 20th century door, a three-light flush mullion window, a tall glazing bar staircase light above it, and another three-light flush mullion window. The north wall has a blocked doorway, a 20th century casement, and a 20th century door, with two flush two-light mullion windows above.
