Description

The cross base, located in the churchyard approximately 5 metres west of the west door of the Church of St John, is possibly of late medieval origin. It is made of millstone grit and features a large design with corner spurs and a square socket, which may have originally supported a market cross. The base has been relocated about 5 metres from the site of the war memorial.
