Description
Well Hill Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the late 18th century, with a wing that may be from the 17th or early 18th century. It is constructed of coursed squared rubble and has a stone slate roof. The building features a two-room plan with a rear wing, creating an L-shape. It stands two storeys high with a symmetrical three-bay facade, accented by quoins. The central doorway has a cambered head, a raised keystone, and a plain tablet above it. The windows are primarily 4-pane sash windows with plain surrounds, except for a later casement window on the ground floor to the left and a narrow 4-pane casement window in the central position on the first floor. The farmhouse has later stone gutter brackets and a central brick stack. At the rear, there is a 20th-century addition to the right, and the left wing has been significantly altered. The attached farm buildings are not of special interest. On the right side of the building, the wing features a doorway with a chamfered surround and a cambered head, along with a former 2-light double-chamfered window on the first floor, although the mullion has been removed. There is a lower building attached to the right gable of the main house, which is not of special interest.
