Description
Far Coates Cottage (west) is a cottage dating from the late 17th century, with a restoration in the 20th century. It is built of coursed squared rubble and has a stone slate roof. The cottage is two storeys high and consists of two bays, featuring quoins. To the right, there is an original doorway that has a very deep lintel and a quoined surround, although it is partially blocked. A central door has been inserted. On both floors, there are three-light double-chamfered windows to the left and right, with the original mullions removed and replaced by 20th-century casements. A dripmould on the ground floor rises above the original door, and there are brick stacks at the ends.
At the rear, there is an outshut to the right that has two small chamfered lights. To the left, there is a small fire-window and a two-light double-chamfered window, both featuring dripmoulds. A three-light double-chamfered window is located on the first floor.
