Description
Roper House is a house dated 1742, located on Roper House Lane in Thurgoland. The building is rendered and features a Welsh slate roof, with stone slates on the rear wing. It stands two storeys tall and has three bays, along with a lower rear wing. The facade is symmetrical and includes quoins. The central doorway is framed by a quoined surround and has a joggled lintel with a keystone inscribed with the year "1742". There are 3-light flat-faced mullion windows on both the left and right sides of the facade on both floors, and a 2-light window is situated above the door. The building has stone brackets supporting the gutter, which are likely from the 19th century. The gable ends have copings on moulded kneelers, and there are ashlar gable stacks.
