Description
Far Coates Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the mid-17th century, with a slightly later cross-wing that has been altered. The building is constructed from coursed, squared stone and features a stone slate roof. It has two storeys and an attic, with a housebody that includes a rear outshut and a cross-wing.
The housebody originally had a 7-light double-chamfered window with a king mullion, which has now been modified to a 3-light window. The entrance is located to the right within a 20th-century porch. There is a round-arched fire-window on the first floor to the left and a 3-light double-chamfered window to the right, although the mullions have been removed. The cross-wing features a large altered ground-floor window with a continuous dripmould above it. On the first floor, there is a 3-light double-chamfered window with a concrete lintel and no mullions, topped with a hoodmould. The attic contains a 2-light flat-faced mullion window. The gable copings are hollow-chamfered and rest on cut kneelers, and there are brick stacks.
Inside, there is a timber arcade between the housebody and the outshut.
