Description
Far Coates Cottage (east) is a cottage dating from the late 17th century, with alterations from the 19th century and restoration in the 20th century. It is constructed from coursed squared rubble and features a stone slate roof. The cottage is two storeys high and has two bays, with quoins at the corners. There is an inserted central doorway and a large later 2-light window to the right. To the far right, there is an original door that has been blocked, which has a stepped chamfer on the lintel and a quoined surround. To the left, there is a 3-light window, and on the first floor, there are two 2-light windows. All these windows are double-chamfered but have had their mullions removed, and they now feature 20th-century casements. The cottage has brick stacks at both ends and a continuous outshut to the rear, which consists of two builds.
