Description

This is a pair of raised grave slabs located approximately 5 metres south of the south chapel of the Church of All Saints. They date from the mid to late 18th century and are made of sandstone, featuring moulded edges with relief decoration on the tops.

The left slab commemorates Ann, the daughter of William and Ann Clegg of Barnby Furnace, who died on 27th March 1757 at the age of 24. It also honors Mary, the wife of Andrew Windle and daughter of Robert and Sarah Clegg, who died on 14th August 1786 at the age of 38.

The right slab is dedicated to William Clegg of Barnby Furnace, who died on 23rd June 1760 at the age of 65. It also includes inscriptions for Ann, his wife, who died on 31st August 1769 at the age of 75, Robert Clegg of Barnby Furnace, who died on 4th June 1780 at the age of 58, and Sarah, his wife, who died on 15th December 1793 at the age of 81.
