Description
The cross located adjacent to the steps at the western approach to the Church of All Saints is possibly from the 11th century, with a 19th-century base. Made of gritstone, the cross consists of four parts, with the main section of the shaft being a reconstruction. It is believed that the different parts come from various crosses. The head features arms of a 'hammer-head' type, and the main face has its primary motif cut back, while the reverse side is simpler. The upper section of the shaft is small and tapers asymmetrically upwards. The lower section displays, on its west face, what may be the lower part of a figure or two opposing figures, along with 'D' motifs. The base of the cross is octagonal.
