Description

Cinder Hill Farmhouse is a large house built in the second half of the 18th century, with a core dating back to the 17th century. It is constructed of coursed dressed stone and features a stone slate roof. The building is two storeys high and has an L-shape, with an additional wing at the rear and a stair wing added to the back of the main range. The facade is symmetrical with three bays, raised quoins, and a central doorway that has a later door. The ground floor has 12-pane sash windows, while the first floor has 9-pane sash windows, all set in raised surrounds. The roof is hipped and there are two ashlar stacks with cornices. The left side of the house has two bays of sash windows and an added brick porch. The rear wing features surviving double-chamfered windows at the basement level and one 2-light window on the first floor within an addition. Inside, there are 6-panel doors and window shutters.
