Description
There are two grave slabs located approximately 5 metres west of the south porch of the Church of All Saints in Cawthorne. The slabs date from around 1736 and 1702 and are made of sandstone.
The easternmost slab features four elliptical panels with decorated borders and is dedicated to John Robuck and his three wives: Judith, who was the daughter of Meller Robert of Rycroft and died on October 1, 1694; Martha, his second wife and daughter of Thomas Wolfenden of Wakefield, who died on May 12, 1697; and Lydia, his third wife, who died on March 6, 1736. John Robuck himself, from the Parish of Cawthorne, died on March 23, 1736, at the age of 90.
The other slab has simple decoration at the top and a line surround. It is dedicated to Martha, the daughter of Thomas Burgon, who died on February 27, 1702, at the age of 21, and to Elizabeth, the wife of Joseph Warson of Cawthorne, who died on April 19, 1742, at the age of 48.
