Description
This barn, located approximately 60 metres southeast of Saville Hall at the east end of the farmyard, dates from around 1678. It is constructed of coursed rubble with quoins and features a stone slate roof. The barn has approximately four internal bays and a near-central cart entrance with a steel lintel. There are four blocked Tudor-arched entrances, one on the left and three on the right, all with quoined edges. High up, there are two square pitching holes and a central pitching hole, along with a foiled vent in the apex that bears an inscribed date. The gable copings are hollow-chamfered and sit on moulded kneelers. Additionally, there are three low-level round-arched vents on the left return gable. Inside, the barn features fish-bone king-post roof trusses, which may date from the 18th century.
