Description

This pair of grave slabs, located approximately 3 metres east of the south chapel of the Church of All Saints, dates from the mid and early 18th century and is made of sandstone. The left slab features a simply moulded edge with rounded top corners and commemorates the daughter of Thorn and Mary Shaw of Gawber Hall, who died on 12th November 1747. The right slab has a decorative surround that is arched at the top and is dedicated to Martha, the wife of Thomas Longley, who died on 10th November 1716. It also commemorates John Longley of Raw Green, who died on 20th April 1767, and Ann, the wife of John Longley, who died on 7th November 1763 at the age of 74.
