Description

The tomb chest, dating from around 1820, is located approximately 7 metres south of the east end of the nave of the Church of All Saints. It is made of sandstone and features a square moulded base along with a decorative frieze. The sides of the chest are divided into two sections, each containing an elliptical panel, and there are vase-like colonnettes at the corners. The inscription on the slab commemorates Charles Marshall of Deanhill, who died on 10th December 1820 at the age of 68 years. It also honors Charles, the son of Charles and Betty Marshall, who died in 1801 at the age of 1 year and 7 months, Betty Marshall, the widow of Charles, who passed away in 1825 at the age of 68 years, and Anna, their daughter, who died in 1858 at the age of 63 years.
