Description
This is a brick barn, likely built in the second half of the 18th century, located approximately 50 metres northeast of Barnby Hall Farmhouse. The barn is constructed of brick and features a stone slate roof. It has two storeys and consists of five internal bays. The front has a central cart entry with a basket arch, a square pitching hole on the ground floor to the left, and a doorway above it on the first floor. To the right, there are two high-level pitching holes and a symmetrical arrangement of ventilation slits. At the rear, there is an opposed, part-blocked cart entry. A later addition on the right side contains the site of a former horse engine.
Inside, there are four principal rafter trusses with an intermediate collar, which have mostly been patched up. Remnants of winding gear from the horse engine are visible at the left end at a high level. The barn is included for its group value.
