Description

This is a brick barn located at the extreme northeast of Barnby Hall farmyard, likely built in the second half of the 18th century. The barn features a stone slate roof and has four internal bays. On the east side, there is a tall, basket-arched cart entry leading to the second bay, along with a symmetrical arrangement of ventilation slits, some of which are blocked, and two diamond honey-comb brickwork ventilation holes. The rear of the barn has an opposed, part-blocked cart entry similar to the front. There is also a stone range extending at a right angle from the left end, which is not of special interest. Each gable wall includes honey-comb ventilation. Inside, two of the three principal rafter trusses remain, each with an intermediate collar, along with later added strengthening collars.
