Description
The raised grave slab, dating from around 1770, is located approximately 2.5 metres south of the Parish Rooms, aligned with the east end of the south chapel of the Church of All Saints. This broad sandstone slab features a moulded edge and is divided into two sections, each adorned with raised decorations at the top and stylised winged angels in the top corners. The left section commemorates Caleb Moakson of Cawthorne, a yeoman who died on 9th April 1773 at the age of 53. The right section is dedicated to Caleb, the son of Caleb and Mary Moakson of Cawthorne, who passed away on 24th July 1767 at the age of 14 years. Beneath both halves, there are several 19th-century additional commemorations for the Moakson family.
