Description

This is an early 18th-century house, later used as a shop. It has undergone alterations in the late 19th century and 20th century. The front is painted brick in a Flemish bond pattern, with a timber shopfront and a moulded cornice featuring modillions. The roof is tiled, with a brick stack. The front facade is two windows wide and three stories high. The shopfront has plain pilasters and a moulded dentil cornice supported by carved brackets, with a glazed door flanked by plate glass windows. The first and second floors have four-pane sash windows with painted stone sills and painted flat brick arches. A rear three-story wing, one window wide, has a brick-coped gable. Lower floors of the wing are hidden by later construction, but a renewed two-light window is visible on the second floor. Raised brick bands are visible on the second and attic floors. Inside, a close-string staircase with turned balusters, square newels, and a moulded handrail connects the first and second floors. Original three-panel doors remain on the first floor.
