Description

This early 19th-century shop and flat is located on Lord Mayors Walk in York. The building is constructed of painted brick with a pantiled roof, which is hipped on the right-hand side.

The front of the building has two storeys and a single bay. The ground floor features a 19th-century shopfront with timber pilasters and a cornice. Above, the first-floor window is a sash window with a segmental arched head. A doorway on the left-hand side forms part of the facade of number 26 Lord Mayors Walk, and it projects forward, overhanging the entrance to number 24. This doorway has a doorcase with reeded engaged columns, a panelled frieze, and a plain cornice. The door itself has six raised and fielded panels, a fanlight, and panelled reveals. A chimney is situated behind the ridge of the roof, towards the right. The interior of the building was not inspected.
