Description

Dunnington House and the adjoining walls were built in the mid-18th century, with some 19th-century additions and alterations, including a raised roof. The house is made of pinkish-brown brick and has a pantile roof with ashlar dressings. It is T-shaped in plan, with a wall on the left that is approximately 7 meters long and 3.5 meters high, and a wall on the right that measures about 5 meters by 3.5 meters. The building has two storeys and three bays.

The central entrance features a five-panel door with an overlight that has glazing bars, set within a fluted pilastered doorcase. This doorcase includes consoles that support a frieze and hood, which interrupts a four-course band at the first floor. The house has 12-pane sash windows throughout, each with fluted wedge lintels, and a wooden eaves cornice. There is an end stack and tumbled-in brickwork at the gable ends.

On the left side, there is a 19th-century lead rainwater head and fall pipe. The flanking screen walls include one on the left with three round arches: a carriage arch between two pedestrian arches, while the right wall features a pedestrian and a carriage arch, all of which are blind except for the innermost arches that have 20th-century plank doors. The walls have ashlar impost bands and ramp upwards to the ends, topped with ashlar coping and ball finials on the right wall.
