Description
Nos. 13, 14, and 14A on Church Street are three houses with shops, built between 1836 and 1839, with some alterations from the late 19th century. They are constructed from orange-grey mottled brick in Flemish bond, featuring a timber cornice and a slate roof with brick stacks.
The exterior showcases a four-storey, three-bay front, highlighted by pilaster strips. The shopfronts are framed by plain pilasters with imposts beneath moulded cornices. Two of the shopfronts retain part-glazed and panelled doors, which are recessed to the left of three-light plate glass windows supported by painted cast-iron colonnettes, above plain risers. The upper floor windows are 12-pane sashes with slender glazing bars, narrow painted sills, and flat arches, with one window altered to a four-light oriel with a cross window. Each house features a moulded cornice supported by shaped end brackets that match the cornices of the shopfronts. The interior has not been inspected.
