Terrace of 4 houses, now offices. c1840 with later alterations. Pink-cream mottled brick in Flemish bond with painted stone sills and sill band; timber cornice incorporating rainwater goods with fluted bowl hoppers; brick stacks to slate roof, hipped at corner. EXTERIOR: 3 storeys and attic; 6 unequal bays, with curved corner bay: first and second floors articulated by giant pilasters supporting moulded cornice which breaks forward over pilaster heads. C20 door inserted in corner bay; in right end bay, pilaster and cornice doorcase has door of 6 raised and fielded panels beneath radial fanlight. Ground floor windows are C20 tripartite sashes. On first floor, mullion and transom window of 2x8-pane curved casement lights inserted in corner bay; in right end bay, two unequal 15-pane sashes survive; remaining windows on first and second floors are 12-pane sashes, and attic windows 2-light dormers. All windows have flat arches, with sill band to those on first floor, sills to those on second floor. To left of first floor window on Colliergate front, bracket for overhead trolley bus wire survives. INTERIORS: not inspected. (City of York: RCHME: The Central Area: HMSO: 1981-: 207-208).
