Description
No. 24 Coney Street is a house that has been converted into a shop. It dates from around 1600 and may include parts of an earlier structure. The building was remodeled in the mid-18th century and has undergone alterations in the 19th and 20th centuries. It features a timber-framed construction that is plastered and whitewashed, with a dentil and modillion cornice. The roof is made of pantiles and is hipped at the front, with a brick chimney stack.
The exterior is three stories high with a two-window front and a jettied first floor. The shopfront includes a glazed door, a plate glass window, and a plain door at the left end, all set beneath a frieze and a broad moulded cornice supported by shaped brackets. The first floor has 16-pane sash windows, while the second floor has 12-pane sash windows, all with painted sills. At the rear, some timber-framing is exposed and is underbuilt in brick. The interior has not been inspected.
