Description
Nos. 82, 84, and 86 on The Mount is a house that was later divided into two houses and is now part of a bank. It dates from the late 17th century and was re-fronted in the early 19th century, with alterations made in 1963. The building is constructed of yellow-red brick and has a pantiled roof.
It has two storeys with attics and features three bays. The timber casement cross windows have glazing bars and painted rendered lintels. The right-hand window on the ground floor is a restoration from 1963, which occurred when a shopfront was removed. The central bay includes a doorcase with a fluted surround and console brackets that support a frieze and cornice. Above the main door, which has six raised and fielded panels, is a fanlight. To the left is a second door, also inserted in 1963, featuring six panels under a semicircular head with a fanlight above. The attic is illuminated by two flat-roofed dormers, and there are two ridge chimneys, one on each side of the central bay. The interiors have not been inspected.
