Description

Gale Farm is a house dating from the mid-18th century, with later 18th-century, 19th-century, and 20th-century additions and alterations. It is constructed of thin, mottled bricks laid in an English garden wall bond, and has a pantiled roof. The house is two storeys high and originally had two bays, featuring horizontal sash windows with glazing bars. The front door has four recessed panels. A gabled open porch, slated and supported by rustic timber poles, is present. The eaves corbelling is continued as a string course on the left-hand gable wall. The gables have chimneys and stone copings. To the right is a lower wing with a lean-to extension covering its front wall, featuring two casement windows. This wing extends to the right and links to a higher part with a single window. The interior was not inspected, but records indicate a late 18th-century fireplace with a wooden surround on the ground floor.
