Description

This is a threshing barn dating from the early 19th century, located approximately 30 metres north-east of Field House Farmhouse at numbers 34 and 36. The barn is constructed of orange-brown brick and features a pantile roof. It has a rectangular shape and forms the north side of a foldyard adjacent to the farmhouse. The barn stands two storeys high and consists of five bays.

On the south side, there is a central round-headed board door with wrought-iron strap hinges, set beneath a brick header arch. This door is flanked by two pairs of breather slits on each side. Above the door, there is a diamond-shaped breather, also flanked by two pairs of similar breathers. The eaves cornice is dentilled brick, and the gable is stone-coped with shaped kneelers on the left side. The right gable is overlain by an adjoining building that is not included in this listing.

On the north side, there is an inserted central board door beneath a timber lintel and an original round brick arch, with two pairs of breather slits on each side. Above this door, there is a diamond-shaped central breather, flanked by single pitching hatches with board doors on wrought-iron strap hinges, and paired breather slits.

Inside, the barn features a five-bay king-post roof with two tiers of side purlins. The adjoining ranges are not included in the listing.
