Description

This is a threshing barn located approximately 30 metres north-west of East View Farmhouse, dating from the mid to late 18th century. It is constructed from brown brick and topped with a pantile roof, forming the north-west side of a foldyard. The barn is two storeys high and contains four internal bays.

On the west side, there is a projecting waggon entrance to the right of the centre, featuring a pair of horizontally-hung board doors with a wicket, all beneath a timber lintel. The side bays have two rows of breather slits, with the top row being shorter: four on the left and two on the right. The eaves are stepped, and the raised gables have tumbled-in brickwork.

The east side has a projecting bay with a lower waggon entrance that includes inserted doors beneath a timber lintel and a segmental relieving arch. The side bays mirror the arrangement of breather slits found on the west side, but the far left features a board door. The far right is partly obscured by an adjoining range that is not of special interest.

The north gable end includes a pair of cross-shaped breathers below, a single central breather slit above, and a central board door flanked by another pair of cross-shaped breathers. The south gable end has an internal connecting door at first-floor level leading to an adjoining stable or granary, along with an owl-hole in the gable.

Inside, the barn features a king-post roof with raking struts supporting kerbed principals, which carry single bracketed through-purlins.
