Description
East View Farmhouse is a farmhouse from the mid to late 18th century, with later alterations. It is constructed of red brick, featuring a front made of fine stock brick in Flemish bond with white lime pointing, and has stone dressings. The roof is covered with pantiles. The building has a double-depth plan with a two-room layout and a central entrance hall on the east front. It stands two storeys high and has three symmetrical bays. The entrance includes 20th-century steps leading to a 19th-century doorcase that has a cornice and hood, with a 20th-century door set within the reveal. The windows are 19th-century four-pane sashes in flush wooden architraves, complete with sills beneath channelled wedge lintels that have fluted keys. There is a dentilled brick eaves cornice and a hipped roof, along with side wall stacks. Inside, there is a good open-well geometric staircase featuring a wreathed handrail, slender column-on-vase balusters with square knops, and profiled cheek-pieces. The interior also includes six-fielded-panel doors in architraves.
