Description

Nos 7 and 9 on George Street are early 19th-century buildings featuring a pantile roof behind a parapet. The right-hand building is constructed of painted brick and has two first-floor windows with rusticated lintels and keystones, lacking glazing bars. It has a modern shop front. The left-hand building has two six-light windows with modern casements, also featuring rusticated lintels and triple keystones added later. This section is rendered to resemble stone and has a modern shop front as well. These buildings are included as part of a group, which also comprises The George Hotel, its farmer stable block, and Nos 7 to 17 (odd), with the former stable block of local interest only.
