Description

Number 17 on George Street is a building dating from the 18th century or early 19th century. It stands three storeys tall, constructed from whitewashed brick, and features a pantile roof with a stone-coped gable on the right side. The façade has four windows with rusticated lintels and hung sashes that include glazing bars. The first-floor windows are similar, also featuring rusticated lintels with keystones. On the ground floor, there is one window similar to those above, along with two shop windows that have rusticated heads and a late 19th-century shop front.

This building is part of a group that includes The George Hotel, its farmer stable block, and Nos 7 to 17 (odd), with the former stable block being of local interest only. Number 17 also forms a group with the premises to the west and rear, which are of local interest only.
