Description
Nos 11 to 15 on George Street are late 18th-century buildings that stand three storeys tall, constructed of red brick with a pantile roof featuring coped gable ends and kneelers. The buildings have three brick chimney stacks and a diagonal-set brick eaves cornice. There are five windows on the upper floors, one of which is blocked. Two modern casements are present, along with one hung sash window with glazing bars on the left and another blocked window on the right with flush cases. The ground floor has five windows, one blocked, with rusticated lintels that have keystones and no glazing bars. It includes one modern shop front and two late 19th-century shop fronts that feature pilasters with carved capitals. The George Hotel, its former stable block, and Nos 7 to 17 on the odd side of the street form a group, with the former stable block being of local interest only.
