Description

This is a threshing barn or granary built in 1809, located approximately 20 metres west of No 35 (Home Farmhouse) on Epworth Station Road. The barn is constructed from yellow-brown brick and has a pantile roof, forming the north side of a courtyard. It stands two stories high and features two first-floor openings on the north side. There is a central boarded door beneath a segmental stretcher arch, flanked by two pairs of twin breathers on each side. Above, there are two pitching hatches with boarded doors on wrought-iron strap hinges, also beneath segmental header arches, with each hatch flanked by twin breather slots. All breathers are currently blocked. The barn has a stepped and dentilled brick eaves cornice and 20th-century repaired stone-coped gables with shaped kneelers.

On the south side, there is a central waggon entrance beneath a 20th-century steel lintel, which has replaced a former timber lintel, flanked by two tiers of twin blocked breather slots. The east gable end features a basket-arched relieving arch just above ground level, with two pairs of blocked breather slots at both ground and first-floor levels, and a single pitching hatch similar to the north side. Additionally, there are two pairs of breather slots, a diamond breather, and wrought-iron figures "09" on the gable.
