Description
Nos 7 and 9 Burgate are early 19th-century buildings that stand two storeys tall, constructed in chequered brick with a pantile roof. They feature an eaves cornice supported by brackets. Each building has two windows with rusticated stucco lintels, flush frames, and hung sashes that include glazing bars. At the time of the survey, the windows of No 9 were boarded up. No 7 has a small segmental bay window on the ground floor, which also includes glazing bars and a moulded cornice. The door of No 7 consists of four panels and has a blocked rectangular fanlight above it, along with a rusticated stucco lintel. No 9 has a similar door of four panels beneath a rectangular fanlight and a rusticated lintel. These buildings are noted for their architectural features, including the bow window. Nos 5 to 9 (odd) form a group, with No 5 being of local interest only.
