Description

Carramore is a house with an early to mid-18th century west wing and an early 19th century south wing, altered in the later 19th and 20th centuries. It is constructed of brick and has a slate roof. The plan is rectangular, comprising an 18th-century two-room central entrance-hall west wing, a 19th-century two-room central entrance-hall south wing (with the entrance now blocked), and a later 19th-century two-room infill in the angle. A 20th-century main entrance has been added to the rear.

The west front is two storeys high with three first-floor windows. A 20th-century door is set within a glazed porch, flanked by 16-pane sashes in flush wooden architraves under segmental arches. The first floor has two unequal 12-pane sashes and one 12-pane casement, all in flush wooden architraves with lintels at eaves level. A stepped and dentilled brick eaves cornice runs along the top. The roof is hipped to the right, with a large axial stack to the right and an end stack to the left.

The right return forms the south front, which is two storeys high and three bays wide. A 20th-century 16-pane casement fills a blocked entrance, set beneath a keyed stucco flat arch. This is flanked by a 16-pane sash in a flush wooden architrave and a late 19th-century flat-roofed canted wooden bay window with plate glass sashes, pilasters and a dentilled cornice. The first floor has matching 16-pane sashes to the side bays, and an unequal 12-pane sash in the centre. An end stack is present to the right.
