Description
No. 17 South Street is a farmhouse built in the early 19th century. It is constructed from yellow brick in Flemish bond and has a pantile roof. The building has an L-shaped plan, featuring a two-room central entrance hall with a kitchen wing at the rear right and an outshut in the angle. It stands two storeys high and has three symmetrical bays. The entrance has a panelled door with an overlight, set within a pilastered doorcase that includes a cornice and hood. This is flanked by 16-pane sash windows in wooden architraves with sills and stucco cambered arches. On the first floor, there are unequal 9-pane sashes in similar surrounds, with a narrower window positioned above the entrance. The eaves are plain wooden, and the gables are raised and tumbled brick. There are end stacks at either side of the building.
