Description
13 New Street is a house that has been converted into offices. It was built in the early 19th century and altered around 1900. The building is constructed of red brick and has a slate roof.
The exterior features three storeys and one first-floor window. The entrance includes a six-panel door with a tall plain overlight in the reveal, which has an architrave that sweeps up to a corniced keystone. To the right of the door is a tripartite window, which has 20th-century glazing in the central light and original sash windows in the narrower side lights. This window is set in a moulded reveal with a sill, architrave, and keystone that are similar to those of the doorway. The first-floor window mirrors this design but features original 1/1 plate-glass sashes above a shallow brick panel, enclosed by moulded jambs that extend down to a sill band. There is a scrolled wrought-iron bracket alongside this window. The smaller second-floor window has a similar keyed architrave surround and 20th-century glazing. The building also has a ribbed wooden eaves cornice with carved modillion brackets and a corniced wooden gutter. An end stack is located to the right.
The interior has not been inspected. This building is included for its group value with Nos. 9 and 11.
