Description

The façade of the former Hull Cooperative Institute, which was once the Hull and East Riding School of Medicine and Anatomy, dates back to 1833 and was designed by Robert Abrahams of London. The building is constructed from ashlar and brick and is currently roofless. It showcases a Greek Revival style and consists of a single storey on a basement, featuring three bays.

The central bay projects and includes angle pilasters, an entablature with a sculptured phial in the frieze, a dentillated cornice, and a moulded pediment. Steps lead up to a central moulded Egyptian-style stone doorcase set within a rusticated panel, complete with scroll brackets on the cornice and a frieze that displays the date in Roman numerals. Above the door, there is a painted sign that reads "Kingston Court".

The side bays are adorned with a full entablature, a dentillated cornice, and terminal pilasters topped with acroteria. Each bay features a glazing bar window flanked by quarter pilasters, with a blank panel located below each window.
