Description
38B High Street is a former warehouse that has been converted into flats. Originally built in 1655, it was rebuilt around 1800 and converted around 2000. The building is constructed of red brick and features slate roofs. It stands four stories tall with an attic and has a river-facing front with three windows. Each floor has a central loading doorway with double doors; the ground floor features plank doors while the upper floors have half-glazed doors. The top two floors still have wooden taking-in shelves supported by chains. Each doorway is flanked by single glazing bar sash windows, and there is a similar sash window in the attic gable. The rear front is similar but has blocked openings on the ground floor and a re-sited ashlar plaque on the first floor that is dated 1655.
