Description
North Lodge is a house that was originally built as a lodge around 1909, likely designed by Runton & Barry for the Garden Village (Hull) Ltd. The building is constructed of brick with imitation timber framing and rendered nogging on the first floor, topped with a plain tile roof and featuring single ridge and side wall stacks. It has two storeys and three bays, arranged in a cross plan.
The windows are primarily wooden framed casements with glazing bars. On the left side, there is a jettied double gable with arch braces, while the right side features a catslide roof. The front has two three-light windows, with the left one being smaller, and a half-glazed door located under the catslide roof. The right return gable facing the street has a jettied first floor with a three-light window above a canted wooden bay window that has a flat roof and seven lights.
At the rear, there is a projecting central gable with a two-light window on each floor, the lower one being smaller, and to the right, a flat-roofed brick projection with a two-light window. This building was specifically designed as an entrance lodge to the Garden Village development and is one of several designed by Runton & Barry for this purpose.
