Description
The Old School House is a house located on Marton Lane in Burton Constable. It was built in the mid to late 18th century and has had some later additions and alterations, including a 20th-century schoolroom at the rear, which is of no special interest. The building is constructed of pinkish-red brick in English garden wall bond and features a pantile roof. It has an L-shaped plan with later infill and stands two storeys high with three bays, presenting a symmetrical facade. The central entrance consists of a six-fielded-panel door. The ground floor has 16-pane sash windows, while the first floor features 12-pane sashes in the outer bays and a central 16-pane sash. Notable architectural details include a dentilled eaves band, brick copings, and an end stack to the left. There is also a four-pane Yorkshire sash window on the right gable, and the gable ends display tumbled-in brickwork.
