Description
The Red House is a house built in the late 18th century, with some alterations made in the 19th century. It is constructed of red brick and features a timber eaves cornice and a cast-tile roof. The building is two storeys high and has five bays arranged in a 2:1:2 pattern, topped by a double-span roof. The central bay slightly projects forward and is adorned with a pediment. There is a 20th-century six-panel door with sidelights set within a 20th-century Ionic porch. On either side of the entrance, there are 19th-century canted bay windows with sash windows that have glazing bars. The first floor features four-pane sash windows with sills, which are set under channelled wedge lintels with raised keyblocks. The house also has dentilled eaves and raked cornices, along with end stacks and raised coped gables supported by shaped kneelers.
