Description
This is an early to mid-19th century house with an attached barn, likely incorporating earlier fabric. The house was Gothicised around 1830. It is constructed of brick, with pebbledash and colour-washed surfaces, and has slate and pantiled roofs. The front elevation is two storeys and two windows wide. A projecting porch is on the left, featuring attached octagonal turrets and quatrefoils above a boarded door. To the right is a two-storey gabled canted bay with 20th-century replacement windows. A two-light casement window is on the first floor to the left. The eaves overhang, and the canted bay has bargeboards. A crested ridge and axial stacks are present.
The rear range, which appears to be a street elevation, probably represents two or more phases of construction. It is two storeys and four bays wide, with the right two bays under a slate roof. A glazed and panelled door is protected by a timber porch, flanked by small canted bays with 20th-century windows, and with a two-light cross window to the far left. The first floor has four two-light casement windows, one with latticed glazing, and one with iron glazing bars in numerous small panes. Axial stacks have paired flues, and the gable has raised brick kneelers.
Adjacent to the house is a three-bay barn with buttresses having offsets. It features a three-light casement window on the left and right, and a two-light casement centrally. Three 20th-century windows are on the first floor or loft level. The barn has a raised coped gable with a broken finial.
