Description

The Church Bridge is a road bridge over the Pocklington Canal, built in the early 19th century. It is constructed of red brick in English garden wall bond with gritstone dressings. The bridge features a basket arch that spans the canal and tow paths, which are supported by semi-cylindrical coped buttresses. There is a band along the ramped bridge deck, and the coped parapet ends in cylindrical abutments that splay outwards. The bridge is also designated as a Scheduled Ancient Monument.
