Description
No. 14 Lairgate is an early to mid 18th-century building that was altered around 1800. It stands three storeys tall and is constructed of red brick. The roof is covered with pantiles and features a plain parapet. The facade has five windows with painted gauged brick arches, and the windows are later hung sashes with glazing bars. On the ground floor, there is a central door flanked by one window on the south and a late 19th-century shop front on the north. The wooden doorcase is adorned with elongated Tuscan columns, a recessed reeded transom, a fanlight, a six-panel door, and an entablature with a shelf cornice. Inside, there is a staircase typical of the late 18th century, featuring slender columnar balusters. The upper floor windows have panelled window seats.
