Description
No. 59 on Saturday Market is a building likely dating from the early 19th century. It stands three storeys tall, constructed of red brick and topped with a graduated slate roof. The eaves board features small brackets. On the second floor, there are two sash windows without glazing bars. The first floor has two windows set in cases that have pulvinate friezes and moulded cornices, although these have been altered to feature one fixed modern light. The ground floor shop front shows traces of a 19th-century wooden case. There is an arched passage entry on the south side. At the rear, there is an extension made of red brick with a hipped pantile roof, which is visible from Lairgate.
